About Tim

Tim Murphy has devoted his entire career to making a difference in the lives of families and children, leading the fight for reform, first in Harrisburg, and now in Washington, DC.

Tim has devoted his entire career to helping families and children.

Tim understands that being your Congressman isn't about parties or politics; it's about people. It's not about red or blue; it's about red, white, and blue. It's about all of us, working together. And so he believes that in your Congress, as in your community, you should expect those you elect to get to work, not to get caught up in partisan gridlock.

After his election in 2003, Tim vowed to be the hardest working, most visible Congressman his district had ever seen. For the last five years, he's kept that promise.

As Tim delivers major speeches throughout his re-election campaign, we’ll archive clips of them in the Video section of this site, and we’ll also reproduce the text of them here.

The Pennsylvania 18th Congressional District is made up of parts of Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, and Westmoreland counties, stretching from Ligonier to Pittsburgh to Ohio. With access to major waterways, the region prospered during the 1900s, becoming a world leader in coal and steel production.

As one of our most active and accomplished Congressman, Tim receives many awards for his hard work and dedicated service. We'll list all of his most recent, and many of his most notable, awards here:

April 9th, 2008
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce "Spirit of Enterprise" Award for support of policies focused on job creating in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Tim brings Republicans and Democrats together. Diverse organizations — from business and labor to doctors and patient groups — recognize the work Tim has done to improve the lives of Western Pennsylvania's families.
