Fed up with the political stalemate that's choking Washington, Congressman Tim Murphy and a bipartisan group of legislators last Wednesday introduced a comprehensive plan to address rising gas prices and move the country toward energy independence.

Congressman Tim Murphy was the prime co-sponsor on the recently passed Protecting the Medicaid Safety Net Act, which reduces waste and fraud in Medicaid and keeps critical programs that serve children in low-income families sufficiently funded.

Had the bill not passed, Pennsylvania would have lost $275 million in federal funding this year.

Of the $2 trillion spent on health care every year, nearly $500 billion is wasted, Congressman Tim Murphy explained to the 2008 graduating class at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing Friday.
