Reducing Taxes

No country in history has ever taxed itself to prosperity. For that reason, Tim has been a strong supporter of middle class tax relief that puts money back in the hands of Western Pennsylvania families. Tim supports permanently eliminating the marriage tax penalty and has also introduced legislation that would make the $1,000 Child Tax Credit permanent. In March 2008, he opposed the liberal Congressional leadership when they adopted a budget calling for a $680 billion tax increase -- the largest tax hike in U.S. history.

At a time when Pennsylvania families are paying too much for food, too much to fill up their tanks, and too much to heat their homes, it is unconscionable to raise taxes. This liberal, big-government tax plan forces more than 5.9 million Pennsylvanians to pay an average tax increase of $3,030. Even worse, this plan slashes the child tax credit by fifty percent, raises taxes on married couples, jacks up the death tax, and forces 18 million U.S. seniors to pay higher taxes on their retirement savings.

Unlike his opponent, Tim will never support a plan that so burdens our families and seniors.
