The benefits our nation provides to our veterans are not a debt to be paid or a simple contract to be honored; they are the least we can do for those who have done so much for all of us.
Tim has voted for increased veterans' benefits, more pay for our servicemen and women, and an expanded GI bill that gives greater educational opportunities to our returning soldiers.
He recently secured $4 million in federal funding for a new commissary that will provide discounted goods to the more than 150,000 veterans, military personnel, and military families in our region. He labored to maintain funding for veterans’ education and job training, and he helped pass legislation to provide combat-disabled military retirees with both retired military pay and VA disability compensation. Tim also worked to bring the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, the only veterans’ cemetery in the region, to the 18th Congressional district. And his tireless efforts helped to save the 911th Military Airlift Wing -- and all the jobs that go with it -- in Moon Township.
The soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with post-traumatic stress disorder and other brain injures deserve greater medical benefits. Tim believes that we should support and repay these men and women who have given so much of themselves in service to us and to the country we love.
