Tim has devoted his entire career to helping families and children.
Tim understands that everything he does in Washington, DC and here at home is for you and your families. And he understands that the real lives of real people are affected by decisions their government makes. Higher taxes mean parents have to work longer hours and spend less time at home with their children; a failing education system leads to cycles of dependence on social services, lost opportunities, and diminished productivity for generations of young Americans; rising energy prices makes it tougher to pay for gas, food, and clothing. Supporting small businesses gives hope to people who want to create jobs. Supporting a strong national security policy means your family can rest easier. Supporting accountability and improvements in our schools provides a better future to our children.
He’s worked tirelessly for health care reform and increased funding for medical research. He’s pushed for stringent hospital safety measures, electronic medical records, and right-to-know laws for medical patients and their families. He's fought for improvements to accountability and assessments in our schools, and he introduced the Mental Health Security for American Families in Education Act, so that parents of college students have a right to know if their child is having problems at school before those problems lead to tragedy.
After hearing about two local children who were injured when their house was destroyed by an explosion caused by a ruptured gas line, Tim wrote Marc and Chelsea’s Law, which replaced a dangerous and ineffective patchwork of laws all across the nation with a single, responsible standard to follow for any utility accident or pipeline damage. This law, like many of the initiatives Tim has championed, literally saves lives.
Tim knows that being your Congressman isn't about parties or politics. It's about people. It’s about standing up for you, giving you a voice you can trust, and giving you results that make a real difference in your lives.
